Planet in Action Places is a site that uses Google Earth to create exciting 3D postcards of different places. Here is what PlanetInAction.com has to say about their new tool -

The way you move around in Places is unique. Our brand new 3D navigation system is called GExplorer and allows novice users to experience the most incredible cinematic views of the scenery. In fact the views are so good that we added a recorder so you can save and share your places with your friends. GExplorer can be licensed for any 3D environment.

I really liked this site because it will allow students to visit places they may never see, but have always heard of like; The Grand Canyon, Mt. St Helen's Volcano, Manhatten NY and Disneyland in Paris, which I had the pleasure of actually visiting while stationed in Germany. Students can also create 3D postcards and send to friends, I think this will be an excellent tool for students to use in the classroom and at home.

This would be a good site for students to look at world landmarks and natural wonders such as volcanos. It has possibilities for students to learn about geography and geology and have fun doing it.

This is such a great site! My children are always asking me what places look like. With this, I can show them! This would also be wonderful in classrooms. The students can go to this site and actually look at the place the story they are reading takes place in or the place they're studying in history or geography.
