Rock Our World

Rock Our World is an excellent resource for teachers who want their students to engage with other students around the world. It is a great collaborative tool. It engage students globally and develops 21st century skills. It allows students to interact with others around the world. They can post blogs as well. I would use this without any hesitation because it broadens students' horizons. It also introduces other cultures.

"Rock Our World" has such a potential to globalize students. The technology needed to accomplish the project allows students to understand how each piece ties together. I really liked this Web 2.0 tool.

"Rock Our World" is an excellent way for students to communicate with students in other parts of the world. In science for example, students in Tennessee could communicate with students in California to compare current weather conditions.

Rock Our World might be an excellent idea for a group activity from the Counselor's office. Learning about health and nutrition while becoming involved with one of the Projects might prove particularly beneficial to adolescents who have been handpicked with particular needs.

I mentioned something of this aspect in my blog of 23 things. I believe it was in the question of "What does Web 2.0 mean to you?" I think this tool is such an excellent tool for our students to communicate with other students globally. Not all students will ever be fortunate enough to travel and this allows them to at least have some global interaction. This has endless abilities, learning languages, comparing economics, cultures, etc.

I have to say I just love the idea of students being able to interact globally. I have always been interested in different cultures and would have enjoyed the opportunity to connect with others around the world. "Rock Our World" provides just that...connection around the world. Teenagers relate to music, videos, computers, and any type of technology. Rock Our World is a key tool for collaborating as a group. Watch the Row 11 video and see the possibilities! My students would jump at the chance to be involved in this project.

What a way to tap into the students creative side. In a time where the arts are getting less and less attention and funding; this is an inexpensive way to bring music back into the classroom utilizing new technologies and taking the students across the world without ever leaving the classroom. I loved the way each group is able to utilize garage band and create a 30 minute drumbeat that is then passed along from country to country. This is definitely cutting edge.
